Aaron Dodson is an award-winning writer for The Undefeated — ESPN’s premier platform exploring the intersection of sports, race and culture. Dodson joined ESPN as a copy editor in 2016, after graduating from UNC’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication in 2015 and interning with the sports department of The Washington Post. He began writing full time for The Undefeated in 2017, when the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) presented him with a Salute to Excellence award for his profile on former College Southern University baseball player Chris Singleton, whose mother was killed in the 2015 mass shooting at Emmanuel A.M.E. Church.

Dodson now primarily covers sneakers and sports apparel for ESPN and The Undefeated. In 2017, he provided commentary as a style expert on SportsCenter’s weekly college football uniform segment, Gear Up, and has since made appearances on numerous platforms such as Outside the Lines, NPR and BBC Radio. Dodson’s latest notable project took him to Athens, Greece, where he interviewed NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo surrounding the global launch of his first signature shoe for the new ESPN+ show, SneakerCenter.
