Robbi Pickeral Evans joined UNC’s Department of Athletics in February, 2017, and serves as Associate Athletic Director for Strategic Communications and Special Assistant to the Director of Athletics.

Among her duties, she collaborates closely with department units, the Rams Club and the University; coordinates communications strategies; leads special projects; monitors the department’s strategic plan; and serves as a sport administrator for women’s basketball.

A life-long lover of words and writing, Pickeral Evans graduated from Carolina in 1997 with degrees in Journalism and Mass Communication and History, and went on to become an award-winning sports reporter while working at the St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times, St. Paul (Minn.) Pioneer Press, The (Raleigh) News & Observer and ESPN.com. She joined Carolina’s Office of University of Communications in 2013 and helped build and lead a talented content team while working on strategic messaging and creative projects.

Her husband Michael is a teacher, and they have one golden retriever, Charli.
